Why your lead magnets need to go hybrid in 2022…

You know how I was saying there are certain things no one is really talking about in their 2022 predictions?

Well, one of them is the resurgence of hybrid lead magnets.

From time to time, I’ve heard people talking about this and out of the 68 marketing prediction articles that I read this month, two actually put it on their list.

…but

No one said how it needed to be done.

I don’t know about you, but that’s a pet peeve of mine.

I mean…why bother telling people the ‘What’ or the ‘Why’ without giving them the how?

That usually says to me one of these things…Either

They don’t know the ‘how’ and they just hear the ‘what’ and put it on their list…

OR

They know the ‘how’ but they don’t have enough confidence in themselves to tell others the ‘how’ because then their audience won’t need them to help them with the how…

OR

They don’t believe that people come to them for the ‘how’ and they just come to them for the ‘what’, so that’s what they deliver…

OR

They know that every solution isn’t for everyone, so presenting one ‘how’ isn’t a one-size-fits-all, so what keeps it broad and that keeps them (the author) safe…

OR

Something else or a combination of the above.

Here’s what I think…It doesn’t really matter the why…I believe that we all have the ability to tap in, discover and move forward with what makes sense… and if a certain ‘how’ resonates with you, run with it!

So, with that in mind…I’m going to present you with a couple of how’s when it comes to hybrid lead magnets right here in this newsletter (and it’s your job to see if it’s one that will work for your next steps in marketing).

Here we go…

Hybrid lead magnet idea #1: reshape your current lead magnets

This is going to be specific to any lead magnet that is a challenge, training, webinar, or email series. I’m going to tell you how to make it a hybrid, right now…

Charge for it.

Yup, I said it. And you may be saying…

But, isn’t a ead magnet supposed to be free?

Yes, a freebie lead magnet is, but a lead magnet and a hybrid lead magnet, that is a different story.

Charging for it is part of what makes it hybrid, and it also shows you just how marketable the lead magnet is.

Consumers are smarter these days, so business owners need to be too.

Which means we need to raise the bar on hybrid lead magnets.

And in a way that our consumers understand that the information isn’t just worth their name, email and phone number…it’s worth some moolah too. Moolah, which they are happy to pay because it’s the exact thing they need right then and there.

It doesn’t have to be a high cost. It can be $1…or $7 or $97…there just has to be a price tag to enter your hybrid lead magnet universe.

There’s a lot of different ways to do this, there’s alot of prices you can charge and your next steps depend on your niche, your offerings, and your specific business goals, but how to make it hybrid is straight-forward 😊

Hybrid lead magnet #2: two is always better than one in lead magnet land

Networking isn’t just a nice-to-have anymore…it’s a must.

And there’s a trend towards combining forces and creating massive wins for business owners. I love it when I see lead magnets that are doing just that.

This is the how, and now you need next steps. Write down a list of colleagues, friends, and even clients that offer something complimentary, and find a way to combine your lead magnets together.

  • That could be a co-webinar series…
  • That could be a digital asset that’s both the material into one ebook…
  • That could be a free live training that you both host and share on all your platforms…

Really, the sky is the limit on this one. The point is to find someone who compliments what you’re doing, see if you are in a fair-trading space (meaning you both contribute close or the same amount of time, effort, leads to the relationship), and start reaching out.

Hybrid lead magnet #3: create a ‘gobstopper’ lead magnet

Do you remember the movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory? The everlasting gobstopper was the candy that not only changes colors and flavors when sucked on, but also never gets any smaller or disappears. Yes, it’s a fictional candy, but what if you could create a lead magnet that wasn’t fictional with this same intention?

Think about it…Facebook Groups. When done well, they can be a never-ending supply of current information for leads and prospects to pull from as they uplevel themselves.

Podcasts are another example of lead magnets that can be of the ‘gobstopper kind’.

More lead magnets like this are needed, and there are many out there that do the job.

But here’s the downside to this lead magnet that many people face.

How do I monetize it?

That all depends, but there’s always a solution and a way that makes sense for your prospects.
