How do you build a funnel that is profitable?

How do you build a funnel that is profitable?

Funnels don’t work…

Funnels are a waste of time…

Everyone has a funnel, but no one is making any money with them…

And the list goes on and on and on of why people say no to building a funnel or having someone build their funnel for them.

They aren’t wrong either…

Yup, I said it.

There are funnels out there that don’t work…

There are funnels out there that are a waste of time to build and to deploy…

And yes, there are a ton of people creating funnels out there and not making any money with them (even though they spent thousands of dollars to have one made).

Nothing feels worth than spending money on a funnel, only to turn it on and have it not produce sales.

But here’s the secret most funnel builders won’t tell you…

On average it takes 60+ funnels to create that unicorn funnel that skyrockets you to 7-figures.

Yup, 60…on average.

And most of us don’t have the time, energy, knowledge base, money, and heck we don’t have the patience to wait that long for a funnel that is profitable…

Most people need a funnel…like yesterday.

So, here’s a breakdown of how to create a profitable funnel (based on the thousands of tests my team and I have run on hundreds of different templates).

Know your audience: Super simple yet this first step is often skipped. We can’t just create a profitable funnel without people to send it to and test on how well it converts. So skip the clarity session and strategy session with a funnel guru, and instead go back to basics and talk to your audience. What do they need from you and how can you create a solution for that need while nurturing them into a sales funnel.

A killer solution: The best funnels have a killer solution to a common problem for their audience. Even if you know what your audience needs, you may be struggling with how to create that customized solution. Click here to set up a complimentary call with me to talk about your sales funnel solution for the new year.

The right funnel and funnel category: Funnels come in all shapes and sizes, and what you need depends on what you’re trying to do. We have three categories of funnel types: Prospecting Funnels, Nurture Funnels, and the Sales Funnels. Within each category there are subcategories that we customize based on the outcomes you’re looking to have. Since we’re talking about sales funnels today, you would need a type of sales funnel that works best for your offer. Grab a call with us and we can give you those funnel ideas.

Mindmapping for the win: You don’t need to bang your head against the wall…you just need to throw up a large post it paper and start drawing out your customer journey via your funnel. This takes some time and work, but by the end of the drawing you will not only be able to visualize the process, you’ll be able to see each step that a client could take, and will take and how to set up a sales funnel to support them in every step of the way. The more you dig into this, the better off your funnel will be and the more sales you will make.

Content is king: This is where I see the biggest misses on a well designed funnel. The copy just doesn’t resonate and sounds way to aggressive and salesy. People don’t want to be sold too, but they do want to buy. They want to buy what they have made a decision on, so your copy has to support that decision. We’ve stopped using the old ‘bro-marketing’ copy tactics because they just don’t work. Instead we use a different form of copywriting, specifically creating in our Digital Disruption Lab, that is making huge waves in a positive way for our clients.

Digital marketing assets: Yes, this makes a scrubby looking funnel, look like a well-designed, well thought out funnel. And it helps with sales too. Digital assets are your logos (both a company and a product logo are needed), product mockups, videos, templates, graphics, etc. This is actually really fun, and not as hard as one might thing to design, but it makes such a difference in the flow of a well laid out funnel.

Branding and aesthetics: You don’t want your funnel to be too off-brand, especially if you’re audience is used to a certain look coming from you. We only want to enhance your branding with a beautifully designed funnel. And designs can range from minimalist to complete and utter rebellious. We’ve got lots of templates to choose from, and more in the making. Want to learn about those, click here and let’s chat.

The best tech for your company and needs: If you’ve been piecemealing your tech, then it’s time to do an inventory, and find a simpler solution. Right now we’ve got a special offer for those who are ready to sign up. It’s a free funnel, when you join our membership, Light YOUR Funnel. Click here to find out more.

Follow up process: You need to bring in our second type of funnel off of your sales funnel. That’s a nurture funnel and the sub-sub-category is follow up! 99% of people will go through your funnel and they won’t buy…but that doesn’t mean they aren’t buyers. Here’s where most people miss out on massive sales! They only focus on the 1% and the 99% can be nurtured into a sales with just a few additional steps and emails. This is a well thought out and strategic process, and one that will require additions and edits. Keep it simple and set up follow up emails with more information, more freebies, and more time with you and see how quickly your bank account grows! It’s not all about the bass…it’s all about the nurture!

Finalize and release: With any funnel we recommend releasing it to your warm leads first and seeing how it converts. At least 100 people need to go through a funnel in order to see how it’s doing. If you don’t have 100 people on your email list or following you on social…guess what – we’ve got a fast track solution for that too (just hang tight as more articles are coming about that).

And done…

You may be thinking…wow there’s a lot more to a funnel than I thought. And yes, there is a lot to funnels. But just because there’s a lot of moving pieces it doesn’t mean that these aren’t essential for your business.

Because really a funnel is about connecting with your audience and future customers in a better way. We can’t be everywhere at once, and when we’re growing a business, and we want to continue to have a high-touch essence in our branding, creating funnels is the way to go.

Keep an eye out for our next articles as we share more on how to do this with your funnels!

Till tomorrow,

Danielle
